The Reds Boss has come out in defence of his skipper over his alleged V-sign to the referee
Liverpool went down 1-0 against Wigan Athletic on Monday night. Steven Gerrard was cautioned towards the end of the game and was seen making gestures and saying a vulgar word to the match official Andre Marriner.
The FA investigated the incident and has decided to not enforce any ban on Liverpool’s talismanic midfielder. However Rafael Benitez feels that the entire incident was nothing besides a mere movement of fingers.
Rafael Benitez’ comments:
"Sometimes you move your fingers. It was nothing. We are not considering it, it was nothing.”
"All the players know they have to behave on the pitch. I was more worried about the silly fouls we were giving to Wigan."
