Liverpool have offered Joe Cole a £4.7million-a-year deal
England International Joe Cole is currently the hottest property, as he is a free agent after rejecting Chelsea’s new offer. New Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has made Joe Cole his top priority summer signing and with a £90,000-a-week contract it would be very difficult for the former West Ham midfielder to reject this offer from the Reds.
London club Tottenham Hotspur are also reported to be after the 24-year-old free agent and Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has expressed his desire to sign Joe Cole.
Harry Redknapp quotes on Joe Cole:
"I managed Joe before [at West Ham], and I signed him when he was 11. We have always had a good relationship. I know what makes Joe tick and it's his love of the game, and his need to be playing it. That is what I am offering him."
"I would like Joe here with me, but it is now up to the club and up to Joe, his agent and his dad, and our chairman. He is talking to them to try to do a deal. If it is beyond us in financial terms I can appreciate that but I am hoping other factors will come into play to make up Joe's mind."
Liverpool are trying to revamp their entire squad, after the departure of manager Rafa Benitez to Inter Milan. Apart from Joe Cole, Roy Hodgson is targeting to sign Nice’s striker Loïc Rémy to partner Fernando Torres upfront.
