Lee Kevin Carsley has completed his transfer to Coventry City from Birmingham

Defensive midfielder Lee Carsley has made his transition from the Premier League to the Championship as he signed a one-year-contract with Coventry City. This will be a welcome return for Carsley to Coventry City, after eight years leaving the Ricoh Arena.

The 36-year-old midfielder started his career with Derby County, where he spent seven seasons making over 155 appearances. In 1999, Carsley was signed for £3.5 million by Blackburn Rovers and was the leading top scorer for the Riversiders.

After spending just one season at Ewood Park, he signed Coventry City for £2.5 million. After 34 years of top flight football in England, Coventry City were finally relegated in 2001.

In 2002 newly appointed Everton manager David Moyes, signed Lee Carsley for £2.0 million. Carsley became an integral part of the Everton’s legendary 4-1-4-1 formation, with Lee situated at the hart of the defensive midfield.

Carsley made over 180 appearances for the Blues and in 2008 he opted to sign for Birmingham City after rejecting a contract extension from Everton.
