When Roy Hodgson brought the former Copenhagen center back to the English Premier League, he definitely knew his potential and he proved it last season. He helped the London club finish a respectable 7th in the league. He was a favorite at Craven Cottage and has played over 55 hours of football for Fulham.
Jamie Carragher - Liverpool
James Lee Duncan Carragher has spent 12 years at Anfield and is getting better every season. He has played over 58 hours of football, the most among all the young defenders mentioned above. Even at the age of 31 he can compete at the top most level.

Frank Lampard - Chelsea
The English midfielder is the second player representing Chelsea. Lampard has so far spent eight years with the Blues. Since then he has been player of the year in three occasions which includes last season where he played over 54 hours of Chelsea and scoring 12 goals and 10 assists.
Steven Gerrard - Liverpool
Like Lampard, Gerrard too had a fabulous 2008-09 season. He has played over 43 hours for the Reds and scoring 16 goals with 10 assists. He is a true captain and has scored critical goals when his club needed it the most.
Andrei Arshavin - Arsenal
Arshavin was included on the last day of the January 2009 transfer window and the Russian did not disappoint the Arsenal fans. On 21 April 2009 he scored four goals against Liverpool which ended in a 4-4 draw. Last season he only played 16 hours of football in the English premier League but scored 6 goals with 8 assists.
Gareth Barry - Manchester City
Last season England midfielder Gareth Barry played for Aston Villa and helped Villa to a sixth position in the Premier League. He scored 5 goals in 19 appearances for The Reds but was transferred back to Tottenham for the remainder of the season. Even then he scored 10 goals with 6 assists. He is the top contender to win the 2009-10 golden boot.
